{Holy Headboards!} The Bed's "Crown"

Today I was headboard dreaming. I don't have a headboard myself but I'm fascinated by so many options, many of which are cool DIY projects. {I've even seen a headboard made from place-mats!} I've compiled some of my favourite headboards thanks to images from Style at Home throughout the years. What I've learned about headboards is that you can do anything from painting them on to personalizing them. They're effective ways to add texture and colour - you can even match them with accessories in your bedroom for a cohesive look. My favourite image is the one on the bottom right. The bright red antler headboard matched with the antler on the wall, the fur throw and pillows with a wool blanket draped over the top makes for a very Canadian look. What does your headboard - if you have one - look like?

{Light Up Your Life} 3 Pendant Lights I'm Currently Loving

Happy Tuesday, gang! Today I was inspired by some things that immediately grabbed my attention in the latest issue of Style at Home magazine. My eye was drawn to so many beautiful pendant lights. Did you see the article and photos on mason jars? They remind me of my Grandma who used to have a set of mason jar mugs that we would use for cold drinks on hot summer days. I love the pendant lights made out of mason jars because they look like fireflies when lit up. Plus they make a great DIY projects! The Wooster & Jeeves top hat pendants were featured in another posting of mine a few weeks ago but I had to bring them back. They're absolutely adorable! Perfect for the male or female fashion gurus. Finally, the Zettl'z light is more of a chandelier than a pendant, but I love the bohemian chic energy to it and how it can be easily personalized. It looks messy, but in a good way {one that doesn't bother the Virgo in me anyway} and it's a cute way to keep old mementos and personalized items - and also to also show them off in trend-forward decor style. What do you think of these three different lights? Which one is your favourite?

4 Different Looks ~ The Kitchen Nook

 Images via Style at Home Magazine

The kitchen nook. It's one of the most used places in the house. Where the family comes together before the hustle and bustle of the morning routine. With thanks to Style at Home magazine throughout the years, I've complied 4 different kitchen-nook looks! Which one are you a fan of? The bright, breezy and modern kitchen nook exudes calming and positive energy. The ghost chair, eye-catching flowers and beautifully crafted pillows is a beautiful sight to wake up to each morning. The breezy east-meets-west nook brings the Eastern flare; the bamboo chairs, with the Western feel of the saarinen table, banquet cushions and accessories. I love how the splash of yellow is just the right amount: not too overpowering but present enough to make itself noticed. The elegant and unexpected room looks more like a dining space with the cabinets and the chunky, circular table (on wheels!) I love the twist of making this the kitchen area. Why not? There are no rules - it's your space! You call the shots. Finally, the cozy and comfy kitchen nook brings in armchairs, often reserved for the living room, into the kitchen area. The mute colour palette feels soft, serene and welcoming. What do you think about these spaces? Have a beautiful Thursday!

Take Your Pick ~ Style at Home Colour Collections With Beauti Tone {Townhouse & Loft}

Townhouse or Loft: which one is your favourite? {This is going to be my last installment featuring Style at Home's colour collection with Beauti-Tone paints.} Are you in favor of the soft neutrals mixed with cheeky accents like the townhouse look? I'm a big fan of how the wooden furniture blends in naturally with the colour scheme. Watermelon would be the perfect accent colour to add a little pop to the space. Or are you a loft lover? Perhaps you're a modernist or traditionalist who always likes to stay on trend. The mix of deep greys, pale blues and pure whites are the perfect match for a city slicker like you.

Did you catch the other collections?

I hope you enjoyed these collections as much as I did. I would love to hear your comments. Have a Happy Thursday!

A Mid Century Home With a Modern {Twist}

Photography by Agnus McRitchie via Style at Home Magazine.

Only have 1,000 square feet of space? No problem! Montreal resident and design guru Sylvie Rochon shows us that even with space constraints, transforming your home into something magical, modern, eclectic and memorable is as "easy as pie". Full of bright colours, pop art, and dashes of mid-century Danish furniture, this apartment screams personality. Some of the stand-out pieces to me include the turquoise chandelier, orange lacquer coffee table and colourful throw pillows. The kitchen, although humble, ties in wood elements beautifully - through the counter, wooden bench and mid-century Danish sitting chair. Mirrors on the walls not only add decoration but make the space feel more open and inviting. Be sure to check out Sylvie's vintage store {Spoutnik} which is full of iconic pieces, funky gems and items from private sales. I've heard that it's one of the best of its kind in Montreal! Which room is your favourite? Which piece is your favourite? Have a beautiful Tuesday!

Take Your Pick ~ Style at Home Colour Collections With Beauti Tone {Manor & Romance}

Happy Easter Monday! I hope that you all had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend and are having an equally exciting Monday. Did you check out my Easter inspiration yet? (including Pantone Easter eggs and decorations made from paint chips!) For a relaxing Monday, I leave you with another installment of "Take Your Pick: Style at Home Colour Collections with Beauti-Tone". Now for more daring collections. Do you prefer the rich, sophisticated, and ultra-European tones of Manor? What I like about the colour combinations is that they can be as equally effective in an expensive manor or in a decked-out frat pad. I love the combination of navy blue and yellow. Plus the addition of brown hues - from Moccasin and Cableknit - break up the bold colours nicely. Or are you a romance junkie (perhaps you're obsessed with purple)?  If so, you'll adore the moody mauve colours that blend with antique grey tones. Purple is the colour to pick if you want a sensual and moody colour that's not too abrasive. With names like amethyst, light cashmere and plum, how can you go wrong!?

Two bold colour palettes, one choice. Take your pick. Which one "grabs your fancy"? Also, be sure to check out the other Style at Home colour palettes I've featured, including: farmhouse, cottage,
fresh and exotic.

Take Your Pick ~ Colour Palettes: Fresh or Exotic

Take your pick of Style at Home & Beauti-Tone Paints colour collection. Fresh or exotic. Which one is more you? The Fresh look includes bright and cheerful colours, perfect for Spring (and also perfect for Easter which is right around the corner!) I'm loving the mix of blue tones - pool and pale sky - with the blend of green and pale yellow tones - granny smith and wasabi. Jet is perfect for a bold colour pop that 'chops up the cheerful' in the space while still being complementary to the theme. Let's say that it adds some "fresh drama". My favourite colour in the Exotic theme is the burnt orange nomad. I'm also partial to the pale grey elephant tone and adore how it's paired up with the almost porcelain shade of tusk. How cheeky! Using a deep blue like Mediterranean paired with the playful orange of nomad creates a sophisticated, wordy look that is daring and unexpected. Which palette is your favourite?

Take Your Pick ~ Style at Home Colour Collections With Beauti-Tone

Beauti-Tone paints has teamed up with Style at Home magazine & Home Hardware to create a colour collection that will make your mouth water. I'm extremely impressed by the colour selections and even more impressed by the style guides they give you. If you're an interior design novice, Beauti-Tone gives you paint suggestions to match up the look that you're trying to achieve so there's little room for error. And when starting a big paint project, that's music to anyone's ears. Although I love every collection, two stand-outs for me are the cottage and farmhouse series. I'm drooling over the paint colour lighthouse and agree that it would make for the perfect look-at-me door colour. And you all know I adore green, so I cannot help but gravitate toward viburnum (and I'm loving how it looks combined with the black and grey tones). So take your pick: which series is your favourite? Are you gaga over the relaxed yet cheerful cottage colour palette? Or does the soft whites, spring green, and contemporary country farmhouse style scream you?
