{Holy Headboards!} The Bed's "Crown"

Today I was headboard dreaming. I don't have a headboard myself but I'm fascinated by so many options, many of which are cool DIY projects. {I've even seen a headboard made from place-mats!} I've compiled some of my favourite headboards thanks to images from Style at Home throughout the years. What I've learned about headboards is that you can do anything from painting them on to personalizing them. They're effective ways to add texture and colour - you can even match them with accessories in your bedroom for a cohesive look. My favourite image is the one on the bottom right. The bright red antler headboard matched with the antler on the wall, the fur throw and pillows with a wool blanket draped over the top makes for a very Canadian look. {Light Up Your Life} 3 Pendant Lights I'm Currently Loving

Happy Tuesday, gang! Today I was inspired by some things that immediately grabbed my attention in the latest issue of Style at Home magazine. My eye was drawn to so many beautiful pendant lights. Did you see the article and photos on mason jars? They remind me of my Grandma who used to have a set of mason jar mugs that we would use for cold drinks on hot summer days. I love the pendant lights made out of mason jars because they look like fireflies when lit up. Plus they make a great DIY projects! The Wooster & Jeeves top hat pendants were featured in another posting of mine a few weeks ago but I had to bring them back. They're absolutely adorable! Perfect for the male or female fashion gurus. Finally, the Zettl'z light is more of a chandelier than a pendant, but I love the bohemian chic energy to it and how it can be easily personalized. It looks messy, but in a good way {one that doesn't bother the Virgo in me anyway} and it's a cute way to keep old mementos and personalized items - and also to also show them off in trend-forward decor style. Inspirational Spaces ~ Ore Studios {Portland Heights}

Portland Heights is another high-style space designed by Ore Studios for a family whose house overlooks beautiful Portland Oregon. I'm loving the casual and fresh look of this space! Pale paint colours and simple Do-It-Yourself projects - like the branches which make a bold and natural statement - make this space both charming and inviting. The custom millwork is quite impressive as is the collection of vintage textiles (that are used as pillows and lampshades!) I also love the red antique carpet in the living room. 6 Quick {& Simple} Ways to Prepare Your Space for Spring!

Getting your space in sync with Spring doesn't have to be a daunting task! In fact, it can be very simple if you follow these 6 easy steps. Many of these D.I.Y. projects include objects that you already have around the house, and it is all about incorporating them together to achieve an outstanding look. One of my favourite projects is grouping mirrors together. Not only can they act as coasters, they can also help remove clutter from your space and attract in beams of sunlight. Or next time you're enjoying your stroll in the park, pick some branches and bring them home. You can use them as a beautiful and natural centerpiece (in any room!) Make your own shelf and store plants underneath a windowsill. Nothing says Spring more than fresh plants and flowers. These 6 projects should take only minutes to achieve but the end result is magic. D.I.Y. Project ~ How To Make A Saw-Blade Clock

Who doesn't love D.I.Y. projects? Especially ones that cost under $25! When I first saw this self-made saw-blade clock, I was impressed with the hard and mechanical look to it. I can picture this in many places: a kid's room (especially if you have a boy), a garage or workshop, or even in your favourite space. I especially like the idea of placing it in a room with very feminine elements - so that the masculine edge of the clock acts as a stunning juxtaposition. Creating this cool clock takes under 30 minutes and costs almost next-to-nothing! Here's how you can create one yourself:

Step 1 ~ Get an old wall clock. Take the numbers off of the clock. (This would also work if you bought numbers at a local craft or supply store.)

Step 2 ~ Polish the saw blade. Get it nice and shiny for its debut.

Step 3 ~ Mark the Hours. Place the numbers evenly on the saw-blade (exactly where the numbers on a real clock would go, naturally). Attach them.

Step 4 ~ Attach the hands. Now you're done! Enjoy!

Have Yourself A {Natural} Little Easter ... From Terrain!

Have yourself a {natural} little Easter. I know that I've got my holiday jingles mixed up; however, this song was one of the first things that I thought of when I came across Terrain's natural Easter collection. The company acts as a store and a nursery which also specializes in events, landscape design and even has their own cafe (located in Pennsylvania). What I love about this company is that they teach us that Easter, and every other holiday, doesn't always have to be a time for extravaganza. You can still create as much - if not more - effect by keeping it simple. The Woodland Coast basket is beautiful decorated with flowers and adorned with a birds nest filled with colourful eggs. The moss and linen branches are elegant and simple and the potted clematis wreath is like a touch of heaven! Terrain's collection also reminds me that I create my own creations as easy DIY projects at home. Parents: these are great crafts to do at home with your kids! Which natural piece is your favourite? Spring DIY ... in 5 Minutes!

The Goods: IKEA frame ~ Amy Butler ~ Vervain ~ Lee Jofa

Today I was inspired by the perfect Spring DIY project that will only take you 5 minutes and will make your space ready for a new season. Now we all know that artwork can be expensive, but here's an idea that won't break the bank (and will encourage you to "think outside the frame" -- pardon the pun). All you really need are 2 items: a frame + your favourite piece of fabric. My suggestion is a simple frame from IKEA. They have a wide selection ranging from under $20 to over $100. I just stuck with something that was mid price-point at $34.99. Next, slip in your favourite fabric. I loved the coral tones for Spring and I was also dazzled by the purple and pumpkin combination. For this project, you don't need a lot of fabric (and you can even use fabric left over from a previous DIY project). This is a smart design idea because you can swap out the fabric for a new one when you want a change. I personally love the idea of alternating the fabrics to go with each season. What do you think?

Colour + Object: Power Doors

Make a strong curbside statement with any of these colour + object pairings for the perfect door:

1. A classic look can be easily achieved with Gidden's Rich Navy (GLB25) paired with Restoration Hardware's Large Plate Door Knocker ($35-$50).

2. Pairing Valspar's Bright Parrot (6011-7) with Michael Healy's Pinecoon Door Knocker in Oiled Bronze ($120) makes for charming and eye-catching door with a little nature flare. 

3. For a door that screams look-at-me, Pratt & Lambert Paints' Patent Yellow (12-10) would look funky paired with Heath Ceramics' Eames House Numbers ($38 each).

(Below) This purple door makes a pop against the rather mellow (but beautiful) brickwork. The purple colour is a nice choice because it contrasts the door's rather antique style details and windowpanes. 

(Below) This pink door is fresh, fun and flirty. I chose this particular image because I liked the yellow pop from the windowpane directly above the door. The yellow and pink tones blend harmoniously together, almost as if the door is giving you a cheerful smile.

(Below) Wow! This door isn't just colourful -- it's a work of art! Plus the door looks as beautiful on the inside as it does on the outside. Check out the cubes of colour cascading down the entryway.

 (Above & Below). These doors painted two different hues of aqua really bring personality to an otherwise bland exterior. The blue is warm and inviting without distracting too much from the other elements around it. (Below) Check out that two-toned door. It's magnificent! I love how the colours blend together in a work of art (the aqua looking like the side and the green looking like fields and grass).

(Above) There's something about this blue weathered door that looks effortlessly chic. Even though the paint seems to be chipping away, it give it that extra j-ne-sais-quoi to the space.
